Film Genre And The Cinema in 2010

  • There were 38 suspense films that was released in 2010 
  • In total £42 million gross were taken from these suspense films
  • The genre of film that had the highest gross  in 2010 was action\adventure 
  • The most popular family genre in 2010 was animation films

  • The figures for suspense genre are higher compared to other genres in 2010 such as the figures for documentry genres eventhough there were more documentry films released. There were 28 suspense films made in 2010 and made a profit of  £42,441,123, however there were 57 documentry films released in 2010 but only made a profit of  £1,834,067. 
The percentage of the genres being part of the box office shows documentry was less popular compared to suspense films, the documentry film was only 0.2% of the box office on the other hand suspence films were 4.2%.

In addition figures shown by horror genres shows that it made 26 films in 2010 making a profit of £45,131,491 and 4.5% in the box office.  Although horror films had made just two less films than suspense the gross was however more.

In conclusion, this shows that the genre horror films are much more popular than suspense film and suspense films being much more high than documentry films. All of this could be because of the target audience, which are mainly young people who are more likely to watch films such as horror and suspense because they are entertaining.
