Film Genre & The Cinema in 2010

- 2010 had 38 suspense films released.

- Altogether, £42 million were taken from these suspense films released.

-Action/Adventure was the genre of film that had the highest gross in 2010

- Animation films were the most popular genre for families in 2010

- In 2010, the figures for suspense genre are higher in comparison to the documentary genre figures, although there were more documentary genre films released. There was a wide difference between the amount of suspense films released against the amount of documentary films released. Suspense films had a total of 28 films making a profit of £42,441,123. Whereas documentary films had released 57 films and only made a profit of £1,834,067.
This shows that documentary films were less popular amongst audiences compared to suspense films. Percentages show that in the box office, documentary films were only 0.2% and suspense films were 4.2%. However, horror had produced two less films than suspense but still had a higher gross rate of £45,131,491 and 4.5% at the box office. Overall, from all this information we are clearly able to see that suspense is more popular than documentary films amongst audiences and horror is more popular than suspense. Regardless f the amount of films made, if the genre isn't popular amongst audiences, then it is most likely not to do well at the box office.
